New Streets!

Back in October of 2017, due to growing concern for the condition of our streets, the membership of Reedley Cambridge Estates Homeowners Association voted and approved a budgeted expenditure to remove all of the asphalt pavement, re-compact the road bed’s base, and then repave our streets with new asphalt.  As part of that vote by written ballot, the membership also approved a special monthly assessment to be paid in addition to the regular monthly assessment (dues).  Funds from the three-year special assessment, which ended January 1 of this year, were deposited into a special segregated trust account as specified in our CC&Rs.  Now that the money for the mandated project has been accumulated, our CC&Rs specify that the funds be transferred into our operating account in order that we carry out the mandated street replacement.  We took bids from various contractors and I am happy to say that the board of directors unanimously approved the bid submitted by Don Berry Construction, the company that does street work for the City of Reedley.  Not only did Don Berry Construction come in with the most competitive bid, they were the only contractor bidding within our previously approved 2017 budget and because of the scope of their street paving experience and street-sized equipment, they were the only company with the capability of doing both the removal of the old pavement and repaving in two working days (weather permitting, obviously) with another day the following week to install new concrete collars around each of our streets’ valves and manholes.  Don Berry Construction has scheduled our street project for Thursday and Friday, October 14-15 with the follow-up work to be done on one day the following week.

So, if you are a neighbor of Cambridge Estates, expect to see even more paving equipment moving along Frankwood those two days what with the construction beginning on the east side of Frankwood. Ours will only be two days so it shouldn’t complicate traffic much at all.
